Creative hub in Namur
The TRAKK is a creative hub in Namur. This multidisciplinary space of co-creation aims to foster the emergence of creative projects throughout Namur and beyond. With our partners from Altiplan and Arcadis, we responded to the call for project for the creation of a building entirely dedicated to Trakk activities. Unfortunately, our proposal got second place in this competition and will not be realized. Nevertheless we would like to share it with you:
TRAKK’s mission is to bring together people and organizations from the worlds of art, entrepreneurship, science and new technologies. Our collaboration has therefore focused on creating a place dedicated to these values and made up of a multitude of spaces with their own functions: Fablabs, meeting rooms, workshop, experimental kitchen, exhibition areas, chill zone, etc. In addition, this hub is a place where things are created and whose experimentation is at the center of the creative process. So we wanted each space to offer versatility to its users but also suggesting that they make the most of the areas allocated to specific functions. By making users travel through the different levels to take advantage of these functions, we foster meeting and collaboration. This also allows us to control all the activities and avoid possible mutual annoyances.
From an architectural point of view, our team focused on simple lines, natural light and vegetation, it was necessary that the building fits perfectly with its environment both urban with green surroundings along the Meuse. It was also necessary that the building stimulates the curiosity of passers-by and make them want to push the door. So the glass and the transparency it offers was quickly chosen to dress the different facades of the building in addition to the metal siding.
We are very pleased with this collaboration with our partners for which the notion of creative space was integrated from the beginning of the reflection we had on the building. Even if this project does not happen, we welcome the arrival of such spaces in Wallonia and thank our partners for the work accomplished.
Congratulations to the winners!
